Alianza for Mexican Americans (AMA)
AMA was established as a response to the ongoing discrimination and prejudice faced by Mexican Americans in the United States. As the largest subgroup within the Latino community, AMA recognized the need for a unified platform to advocate for their rights, address systemic inequalities, and foster social change.
Mexican Americans have a long and complex history in the United States, with roots tracing back to the era of Spanish colonization in the Southwest. Despite their deep ties to the region and contributions to American society, Mexican Americans have often been subjected to discrimination, marginalization, and stereotyping.
One of the key principles of the AMA is unity. Recognizing the strength in numbers, AMA aims to bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds within their community to collectively advocate for their rights and challenge systemic biases. By uniting under a common cause, the AMA seeks to amplify Mexican American voices and increase their influence in shaping policies and attitudes that affect Mexican Americans.
The AMA recognizes the power of music as a cultural and unifying force within the Mexican American community. By leveraging this key cultural value, the organization aims to foster unity, amplify the voices of Mexican Americans, and create meaningful change.
